WedFog - Tell us a bit about yourself.
Neil - I'm a husband to my business partner and father to a son and daughter. I live an active lifestyle and enjoy outdoor sports and traveling. I've made it around the world twice in the last year by miles shooting in New Zealand, Scotland, Canada, and New York. I'm tall and skinny, and like practical jokes.
WedFog - Tell us how you got started with wedding photography.
Neil - I was the art student who took B+W film to my friend's weddings. And who's images they liked better than the guy they paid.
WedFog - If we were hiring a wedding photographer today, why would we hire you?
Neil - Deviously good looking...
..pictures of course. A very personal perspective in the images that get inside your experience and make it look so naturally beautiful.
WedFog - What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?
Neil - After 200 weddings, my favorite part of the wedding is being excited to see what will happen next almost all day long!
WedFog - Care to share some of your favorite photos with us?
Neil - When you've been a wedding photographer for 8 years, it is a challenge to make images that look new from a unique perspective. I love that I'm still able to be intrigued by my work and able to capture intimacy, caring and the mystical power of relationships. Somehow this image sums up much of that for me. This year reminded me to keep my nose out for a story, no matter what. I actually crashed this casual wedding of a friend's brother by stopping in the weekend they were having it. I didn't know anything about it, but pulled out my camera and made a few documents as a last second wedding gift. I so appreciate the spontaneity of this craft and am glad it continues to teach me to be flexible and open. See the wedding splasher video.
I'm amazed at the opportunities that I continue to get to make images that I can't even dream up. The opportunity presented itself to take the bride and groom to an air-show and everyone loved having them there. I always joke you can get away with anything in a white dress - and I've yet to find an exception!! See the entire slideshow including the wedding revolver.
