When Geeks Get Married

Just when you thought you've seen it all along comes this video.


You have to admit the Mario Brothers cake is pretty cool. Being a "Full Fledged" Geek myself I can appreciate a few of the photos but better yet was the song. Off to iTunes to see if I can grab a copy. What can I say, I'm a Geek! :-)

Cleveland Rocks!

I've always loved the theme song to the Drew Carey show and thanks to Drew I have this mental image of Cleveland being a really rocking place. The Car, The Boat and The Chainsaw how one Bride Came to Enter a Competition.

April Harvey tells the daily news about her wedding to husband Joe.
My dad goes away and then comes back out with this huge chainsaw and says we can cut the cake with this...It was quite a farm wedding.
Despite the drama of her own wedding day, April and her Mother see the Bridal competition as another chance shine. In it's 27th year the Taranaki Bridal Competition allows brides to compete against one another is 6 categories: Traditional, lifestyle, contemporary, personality, avant garde and audience choice. I personally think it would be quite awesome "stylewise" to watch all the brides at once in one place. Be sure to read the rest of April and Joe's story lest you miss the other nuggets like this one describing her long drive to the church.
We pulled over and jacked it up, but had no wire to fix it with, so we had to pull the bobby pins out of our hair.

Good Girls Bachelorette Party? How to Stay out of Jail...

On their website, the Gaylord Palms Resort identifies the problem quite succinctly.
Have as much fun as humanly possible! But keep me out of jail...please!

I think that I shall never see,

One of the most unique ways to say anything is with poetry. From speeches, to wedding gifts and thank you cards, poems have a way of making an ordinary word seem more special. Thankfully for those of us who weren't blessed with the gift of iambic pentameter (see above) there are services out there that can help. A quick Google Search will turn up dozens of websites that can take your thoughts and turn them into Verse.

Wedding Photography in Washington D.C.

In her article she goes on to give 8 useful tips for taking your wedding photos in our nations capital.
You don’t want to be surprised. Work with your photographer to verify that wedding photography is permitted, the guidelines for photography and the cost. Many public gardens limit the number and duration of wedding photography sessions per day. Quite frequently large tents are erected on The National Mall and Capitol grounds during the summer months. The tents block entire buildings and interrupt the vistas. The National Arboretum requires registration at least two weeks in advance. And who wants to navigate the crowds around the Tidal Basin during the Cherry Blossom Festival (let alone someone wearing a wedding dress)?

North Carolina's Crystal Coast offers wedding guests a multitude of activities...
There are a number of activities to entertain guests and members of the wedding party before and after the wedding. The Crystal Coast is known worldwide for both its off-shore and inshore saltwater fishing. There are many charter operations in the area. There are also several nice golf courses that are open to the public. Of course, being a resort community, boutique shopping opportunities abound. There are also a number of museums and educational attractions such as the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum, Fort Macon State Park, The History Place, and the NC State Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.
Bob Decker goes on to say in his WedFog wedding planning article titled "North Carolina Crystal Coast: Close Enough to Drive but Far Enough to Escape" that having a wedding coordinator is almost indispensable.

There are many options to choose from, depending on your preference and personality, and your photographer can certainly help you with this decision. For an elegant, traditional bridal portrait, the front steps of the New Orleans Museum of Art is a very popular location. For a fun, natural-environment engagement portrait, City Park or Audubon Park are good choices. For a grittier, edgier bridal or engagement portrait, nothing beats simply roaming the French Quarter, seeking out interesting doorways and old weathered walls, in front of which the immaculate and beautiful bride creates a striking visual contrast. These sessions are always spontaneous, fun, and unpredictable.

Planning A San Diego Beach Wedding

Photographer Julie Edwards has submitted a new article to WedFog entitled "Planning a San Diego Beach Wedding" and it's full of great tips like this one.
Be sure to check a tide calendar and sunset time before planning your beach wedding. For your San Diego beach wedding photos to look the absolute best, you want to plan to be on the beach about an hour and a half before sunset until just about dark. High noon on the beach is not the most comfortable light for you or your guests, nor the most flattering for photos.

Apparently bride hoodies from The Knot are so last year. Chicago based Rock Star Bride is gearing up to outfit brides with modern bridal gear.

I'm nearly at a loss for words with this one. Cheap Chic Weddings is once again holding their annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress contest. Sponsored by Ripley's Believe it or Not and Charmin the contest is now entering it's 4th year. The guidelines:

Large and Lovely Boudoir Photography

Tammy Warnock a WedFog member and owner of True Blue Photography and True Blue Intimates was recently featured interviewed by Bella Online about plus size boudoir photography. Bella online author M.E. Wood had this to say about Tammy's boudoir photography work.
Looking through Tammy's gallery images it's obvious she gives each model special attention (check out her blog for the latest images). They looked so relaxed in her presence. Every image is captivating and it has nothing to do with society's fluctuating standard of beauty. Their radiance is definitely coming through...

DIY Centerpieces

Epicurious has posted a great little article on Do-It-Yourself centerpieces. In it they offer some great tips such as thinking outside the vase...
"Don't be afraid to consider any container as a possible "vase" when creating an arrangement. Search out ordinary household objects—mason jars, empty cans, teapots, mixing bowls, or baskets—to use as starting points for unique centerpieces."
For those of you planning on crafting your own wedding centerpieces I'd consider this article to be a must read for the special equipment list alone.

Move over Martha Stewart - Vera Wang on Weddings

Famed wedding dress designer Vera Wang is walking down the runway in some new shoes this spring. Vera Wang on Weddings will offer brides to be a gift registry including everything from mattresses to bridal lingerie. Wang will also be offering some of the same sage advice that she shares with her A List clientel says USA Today...
"Whether you're a romantic, modern or exhibitionist bride, Wang says, you must do what makes you comfortable. "I think you really have to be who you are on that wedding day."

Towers of Flowers

Reach for the sky is probably the best advice I've seen for wedding centerpieces and it comes from Lancaster Online. Why is taller better?
"...tall arrangements add a very dramatic look to the tables and the entire reception hall, yet guests can see each other and converse without interference."
Taller and more slender arrangements will also allow your photographer to better shoot around them as well when capturing candid photos of your guests at the reception. Reality Check - You Are Not a Travel Agent

Planning a wedding can be complicated enough without having to plan your first vacation AKA "Honeymoon" at the same time.
...travellers often don't understand the time it takes to DIY their trip, nor do they realize the invaluable insider information to be garnered from travel agents. Forget to factor in crucial details, from visas to travel insurance, and being your own agent could become one big mistake.
The Leader Post has published a great article outlining many of the reasons you should consider hiring a professional to help make your travel arrangements. Planning a destination wedding? Worth noting is their suggestion that a good travel agent can do more than just book your hotel and flight.
"It was like having a wedding co-ordinator," says Cormier, whose nuptials took place last December in a gazebo overlooking Punta Cana Beach. "I didn't have to do anything but send off an e-mail."

If you haven't already noticed being "green" is really becoming all the rage this season. Designer Chris Kole has embraced the eco-friendly revolution in a new line called The Cotton Bride.
