The Running of the Brides

Filene's Basement is know throughout the world for their annual running of the brides.
Filene’s Basement has occasionally sold wedding gowns ever since the store first opened in 1908. Through press coverage and letters from customers, we determined that a special one-day wedding gown event was held as early as 1947, although it was probably a little tamer than the sale is today.
By "tamer" they mean, there probably wasn't hundreds of brides lining up the day before rushing the door at 8:00am frantically searching thru up to 2500 different wedding gowns. Only stopping to try on a gown right there on the showroom floor. Their store record for clearing the racks of dresses... 36 seconds!

These world famous sales start with their Boston store on February 22nd and continue at various other locations until March. For more on this one of a kind event click here.
